I got this from a website about Vietnamese wedding ceremony traditions:
Vietnamese Ceremony Traditions
PRESENTS
It's customary in most Asian cultures for the groom and his family to pay for
most of the wedding costs. They also must present the bride's family with lavish
gifts.
Traditional Vietnamese grooms wear long tunics and travel to the bride's home
and give gifts to her family during the official engagement period. With the
bride and groom's families in attendance, an older male states the groom-to-be's
intentions. If it is an acceptable match, the families celebrate together. This
is a really fun tradition and one that shouldn't be forgotten.
Most grooms are responsible for the music at the wedding and Vietnamese grooms
are no exception. So, if you'd really like to surprise your family with some
traditional music but can't afford or find a proper band, why not buy some
popular Vietnamese wedding CDs such as "Ngay Tan Ton" or "Mung
Tan Hon Da vu Vu Quy 4". Ask your DJ to spin a couple of these tunes for
you. It's sure to be a welcomed surprise and will win you big points with the
older folks in your family. Go to CD

SAY IT WITH SILK
If you're totally lacking creativity, there are easy ways to be traditional,
according to Lihn Nguyen, a Maryland-based photographer who has photographed
many Vietnamese weddings. He says, "It is a custom for the groom and his
wedding party to walk to the bride's home." Nguyen explains that the groom
and groomsmen bring gifts wrapped in red silk and escort the bride's family to
the ceremony after saying some prayers. It's a simple custom that is very
symbolic, and according to Nguyen, looks absolutely beautiful in pictures.

Vietnamese Brides are also encouraged to change into as many different outfits throughout the duration of her wedding day. In a Vietnamese proverb, it is said that the more times a bride changes into various outfits during her wedding day, the newly married couple will have lots of good luck for their marriage.
